    The Rev. Deacon Dr. Don M.R. Aanavi, 72, of Ninole died July 22 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in New York City, he was a retired professor of art with the University of Hawaii at Hilo, campus minister, curator of the Laurance Rockefeller Collection of Asian and Oceanic Art at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, author of "The Art of Mauna Kea," and deacon of the Roman Catholic Church at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo. Friends may call from 8-10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Casual attire. In lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice of Hilo in memory of the Rev. Dr. Aanavi.
