Sarah Ku‘ulei Ha‘aheo Ho‘oulu i‘ae ‘O Kawaiola Akiona, 21, of Waimea died Sept. 2. Born in California, she was a 2013 graduate of Honokaa High School, cashier at Waimea Coffee Co., server/cashier at Charley’s Thai Kitchen Waimea and recently self-employed. Visitation 9-11 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 16) at Honokaa Hongwanji Hall. Celebration of life and luncheon to follow. Casual attire; no flowers. Le Vaughn Carter, 70, of Mountain View died Sept. 7 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Denver, he was a retired machinist for the former Southern Pacific Railroad Co., elder and member of the Keaau Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and amateur radio operator. Martha Leimakalehua Karratti Lazarus, 95, of Waimea died Sept. 7 at home. Born in Honolulu, she was a cook and homemaker. Florentino Nagal Naboa, 79, of Hilo died Aug. 18 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Agno, Pangasinan, the Philippines, he was a retired seed cutter for the former Ka‘u Sugar Co., picker/irrigation worker for Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Co. and member of Naalehu Sacred Heart Catholic Church and St. Joseph Catholic Church. Nancy Fumie Nakaishi, 90, of Hilo died Sept. 3 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a bookkeeper and accountant, first with the former Richard Nip Management Corp. and later in private practice, member of Hui Okinawa, Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, Buddhist Women’s Association and several professional organizations, and secretary/treasurer of Hilo AJA Bowling League. Visitation 10-11 a.m. Sunday (Sept. 17) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at 11 a.m. Aloha attire; no flowers. Survived by husband, Morris K. Nakaishi of Hilo; son, Russell A. Eufemia Almoite Ragpala, 72, of Honokaa died Sept. 1 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Bacnotan La Union, the Philippines, she was a retired waitress for Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Visitation 4-6 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 14) at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Honokaa. Mass at 6 p.m. Casual attire. Cremation to follow.
