Bernice (Kauhi) Berdon, 86, of Waimea died Oct. 29 at home. Born in Waipio Valley, she was a retired florist and farmer. Family visitation 7-8 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 25) at St. James Episcopal Church, 65-1237 Kawaihae Road, Waimea. Public visitation 8-11 a.m. Celebration of life services 11 a.m. Burial at noon followed by a gathering at the family home. Survived by son, Alfred “Butch” Berdon Jr.; daughters, Alfreida “Leo” Akau, Valerie Berdon, Charmaine “Mainey” Phillips and Corinne “Tootsie” (Matthew) Weller; brothers, Wilfred (Connie) Duldulao and Clerman (Sandy) Duldulao; sisters, Rebecca Tomas, Kathryn (Lawrence) Fujioka, Sally (Nelson) Kim and Charlotte Rodrigues, 16 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; nephews, nieces and cousins. Pedro Kuuipo Kaawaloa Sr., 68, of Pahoa died Nov. 4 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Ka‘u, he was a retired stonemason, former county lifeguard at Kaimu and Drainpipe beaches in Kalapana, bodybuilder, maile grower, co-founder of Puna Canoe Club and U.S. Army veteran during Vietnam War. Visitation 9-10:30 a.m. Friday (Nov. 24) at the Star of the Sea Church in Kalapana. Celebration of life at 10:30 a.m. Casual attire. Survived by son, Pedro Kaawaloa Jr.; brothers, Pualani Kaawaloa, Poni Kaawaloa and Robert Kaawaloa; sister, Mabel Wilson; nephews and nieces. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Mamerto Caraang Pasion, 80, of Pahoa died Nov. 9 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Darayday, Laoag, Ilocos Norte, the Philippines, he was a retired heavy equipment operator for the former Puna Sugar Co. and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation 8-10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pahoa. Mass at 10 a.m. Casual attire. Burial at Pahoa Catholic Cemetery. Survived by wife, Rosita Pasion of Pahoa; sons, Dennis R. (Amberlee) Pasion and Glenn R. (Bernadette Jean) Pasion of Pahoa; daughters, Cherry R. Pasion and Jennifer (Christopher Kim) Pasion of Pahoa; sister, Lourdes (Felixberto) Aseron of Hilo; 10 grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Daniel Olav Te‘o-Nesheim, 30, of Waimea died Oct. 29. Born in Pago Pago, American Samoa, he was head football coach and a dormitory parent at his alma mater, Hawaii Preparatory Academy, and former defensive end for the University of Washington Huskies who played four years in the National Football League, three for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and one for the Philadelphia Eagles. Services held Nov. 11 at the HPA Upper Campus. Survived by mother, Ailota Te‘o; grandmother, Luisa Te‘o; sister, Marie (Max III) Aiona; nephews, niece, uncles, aunts and cousins.
