Robert J. “RJ” Campbell Sr., 87, of Keaau died Aug. 13 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home in Hilo. Born in Watertown, N.Y., he was a private venture investor and management consultant, formerly employed by Link Group-General Precision Inc., Friden Inc., Bailey Controls Co., Bridgestone Management Group and a U.S. Air Force veteran. No services. Survived by wife, Clarita Campbell; sons, Robert (Marcia) Campbell Jr. and Stephen P. Campbell; hanai daughter, Julie (Lobrend) Bannister; brother, Keith A. Dennis Preston Davis, 76, of Kapoho died Aug. 1 at home. Born in Pasadena, Calif., he owned an architectural services firm and was a U.S. Army veteran. Celebration of life at a later date. Agnes Freitas Hunter, 87, of Tiga Cay, S.C., died Aug. 28 in Rock Hill, S.C. Born in Hilo, she was retired from the U.S. Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and a member of Beta Sigma Phi. Memorial Service at a later date. Survived by two stepdaughters, two stepsons, 21 nieces and nephews. Arrangements by Wolfe Funeral Home, Fort Mill, S.C.

Ernest James Jackson, 39, of Pahoa died Aug. 24 in Pahoa. He was a home builder and owner of Full Spectrum Home Improvements. Celebration of life 1-4 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 2) at Kalani Honua EMax building, 12-6860 Kalapana-Kapoho Road, Pahoa, followed by a lantern-sendoff on the Seaview Lawn. Albert Medeiros Sr., 87, of Kealia died Aug. 26 at home. Born in Kaawaloa, he was a retired labor foreman for Isemoto Construction Co. cowboy for Greenwell Ranch, employee of the former Fujino Coffee Mill, fisherman and hunter. Joseph W.L. Whitney, 68, of Hilo died Aug. 17 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Hilo, he was a retired senior lifeguard at Sparky Kawamoto Swim Stadium and veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and U.S. Coast Guard Reserve.
