Hilda “Gramma Hilda” Eva (Correa) De Costa, 87, of Hilo and Pahala died July 6 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Honomu, she was a state schools cafeteria helper, member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Foster Grandparents Program, tutoring special education students at Waiakea Elementary and Hilo Union schools. Visitation 8-9:45 a.m. Tuesday (Sept. 5) at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Eulogy at 9:15 a.m. Mass at 10 a.m. Casual attire. No flowers. Private scattering of ashes. Survived by sons, Gordon (Patricia) De Costa and Leroy De Costa of Waimea; daughters, Debra “Debbie” (Walter) Wong Yuen of Pahala and Charna (Aaron) Ontiveros of Las Vegas; sister, Marjorie Tubbs of New York; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Amadeo Ezzo, 80, of South Kohala died Aug. 23 at home. Born in Honolulu, he was a first-class tradesman for Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows, former welder and a U.S. Army veteran. Services held. Naomi Ululihi Pilialoha Hauanio, 26, of Mountain View died Aug. 19 at Hilo Medical Center. She was born in Hilo. Services held. Michael Shawn Whitener, 47, of Kailua-Kona died Aug. 22 at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Savannah, Ga., he was a self-employed journeyman plasterer. Services pending. No flowers.
