Ige releases funds for Honokaa school

Honokaa High and Intermediate School students are slated to see walkway improvements and new restrooms in their campus’ auditorium.

Gov. David Ige on Monday announced he released $3 million in capital improvement project funding that will be split evenly between the two projects. Money was secured by state Sen. Lorraine Inouye, D-Hilo, Waimea, Waikoloa, during the past two legislative sessions.

Walkway upgrades will connect various buildings at the school, improve cross-campus mobility and improve sidewalk ADA ramps and access, according to a news release.

The remaining $1.5 million will finance design and construction of the new restrooms.
