Mentors sought for veterans in treatment court

Volunteer veteran mentors are needed to support their fellow former service members involved in Veterans Treatment Court.

An orientation meeting is scheduled for 2 p.m. Feb. 1 in the Hilo Judiciary Building, 777 Kilauea Ave.

A key component to the success of the Veterans Treatment Court is a veteran mentor who can stand by the veteran throughout the treatment court process, said Grayson Hashida, program coordinator.

Requirements to be a veteran mentor include:

• Must be a veteran.

• Able to assist the veteran in accessing Veterans Affairs benefits and services.

• Team player.

• Serve as a supportive role model for Veterans Treatment Court clients.

• Available to your assigned veteran throughout the court process.

For more information, call Hashida at 443-2201.
